The recent discovery at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School
of 215 unmarked child graves should horrify us as Canadians and as Christian believers:
- Statement from the CCCB (Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops)
- The 50 Catholic Religious Organizations and Dioceses responsible for the Residential Schools: 1991 Apology reported on the Aboriginal Peoples TV Network: why "it’s not appropriate" for either the CCCB or the Pope to issue and apology (concurred with by the current AFN National Chief, and former Chief Phil Fontaine, himself a residential school survivor)
Pray for the children who lost their lives at the Kamloops school, for the aboriginal peoples of this their land, and that we may be ministers of healing and reconciliation.
