This week, the splendid music for the Feast of the Archangels!

The Holy Eucharist:
This weekend is the last of the Gospel from John 6 -- “The Bread of Life” discourse. And thus the last of our 4-part sermon series on The Eucharist.
You can watch the previous three at:
July 25, beginning at 14:30
August 1, beginning at 16:30
August 8, beginning at 30:00
Upcoming Funeral
This Saturday 21 August at 11:30am for Maureen Neville; visitation at 10:30am
We're Hiring...
...a full-time Pastoral Associate, jointly with St. Willibrord's, mostly for Adult and Family Faith Formation. Must have a love of Jesus Christ and a desire to share that. Email the office for a job description. Applications close Friday next week.
Take 30 seconds with St. John Eudes
Today is the feast of this 17th century priest who legacy includes this beautiful Prayer to the Sacred Heart, which expresses our aspiration to holiness:
O Heart all loveable and all loving of my Savior, be the Heart of my heart,
the Soul of my soul, the Spirit of my spirit, the Life of my life
and the sole principle of all my thoughts, words and actions,
of all the faculties of my soul and of all my senses, both interior and exterior.
Amen.
A simple authentic formula for happiness...
...is found near the end of this brief, inspiring interview. (My quietly joyful brother Brian of beloved memory, suffered and died from the same disease).
Also:
1- Those in Family Faith Formation will be emailed shortly with re-starting date and details.
2- Get the latest Diocesan news and updates on Haiti
3- The September Magnificat is in for those who ordered it.
4- We are grateful to Notre-Dame de la Garde which has installed a stair lift at the Bannantyne entrance to make our Church accessible. It should be operational next week. Spread the news.
5- With more people able to return to mass, our livestream from St. Willibrord's will not continue after the end of this month.
May the rest of your August be Blessed in Christ,
Father Robert+

Once again this weekend the Gospel is from John 6 -- “The Bread of Life” discourse. Come to understand The Eucharist, as we continue with the 3rd of our 4-part sermon series on The Eucharist. You might read John 6 (10 minutes) prior to each Mass to best prepare. You can watch the previous two at:
- July 25, beginning at 14:30
- August 1, beginning at 16:30
The weekend after this, the sermon series will be wonderfully interrupted! The Solemnity of the Assumption of Our Lady, 15 August, falls on a Sunday this year. The subsequent week concludes The Bread of Life series.
On Friday 13 August at 12:30pm for Adolf Schweighart; visitation at 11:30am
On Saturday 21 August at 11:30am for Maureen Neville; visitation at 10:30am
Summer greetings from The Pillars Trust...
...which has tangibly supported our parish. Past President Michael Kieran sits down for a 5-minute interview with new President Megan Marinos. Together they chat about the history of Pillars and our vision going forward: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPZ1MeOp6iI
1- Sign up for a free virtual conference August 12-15 for catechists, but also for parents and anyone interested in transmitting the faith.
2- We are still working out details of autumn programming; we will continue to offer Sycamore and Family Faith Formation. Your thoughts are most welcome.
3- Check out the Grapevine newsletter summer edition
4- Your generosity continues to abound: despite the pandemic, your offerings came within 2% ($600) of the projected budget for the first 1/2 of 2021. Please keep up your givings during the summer so we don't fall behind.
May the rest of your summer be Blessed in Christ,

I offer this special invitation to join me this evening online at 7pm
-- giving of yourself by simply listening --
This presentation will be hosted by our friends at St. Thomas à Becket Parish, who'll be welcoming David Acco, a member of Métis Nation, and his wife, Julie Lepage, member of the Nipissing-Ojibway First Nation. David and Julie are long-time faithful parishioners of Holy Name of Jesus parish in Laval.
To join at 7pm this eve, click Zoom presentation
Please send me or the Office first names of those you would like me to either newly or continue to pray for daily.
As we look towards renewed commitment to Jesus Christ in the Mass, some wisdom from another Montreal parish: Drive-up Communion on Sunday is now suspended, as there is no reason virtually everybody cannot return to Mass in person. There is almost no COVID in the province at present, almost everyone in church is partially or fully vaccinated, and we are very meticulous in our precautions. May we take to heart the words we have been saying every week in the prayer for an end to the pandemic: “Let us not be afraid, but rather entrust our life into the care of our Divine Physician.” Attending Mass are very elderly people, some fighting cancer, immunocompromised people, and they all feel safe because of our protocols.
For individual special cases, call us as always to arrange pastoral home care.
